On Today’s episode of Adventures with Gary The Wood Sprite: Season 1, (winter) episode 7 (Ward Road) It’s March 19, 2026. We started out at the Ward Road trailhead for the Caesar Creek State Park mountain bike trail. This was my very first time on a mountain bike trail. Yay!
This trail is created and maintained by CORA (Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance) trails. yes—hikers are allowed on mountain bike trails! They are multi-use trails, not bike-only trails. The important lesson is: everyone must yield and share the trail responsibly. Since this is a narrow, single-track trail be aware that a mountain biker or trail runner might come up behind you quickly so make room for each other and be polite. Share the trail!
We had so many good fines today like mullein, daffodils, lesser celandine (invasive but beautiful), violets, and slender toothwort. I found a ton of cute little hiding spaces. We heard beautiful birds including a nuthatch, cardinal, woodpecker, red shouldered hawk, crow and a chickadee. Lastly, an orange fungus called Nectriaceae and a black one named Auriculariaceae.
What was your favorite memories of bike riding? What was your first bike? How did you learn to ride?
