On Today’s episode of Adventures with Gary The Wood Sprite: Season 1, (winter) episode 5 (Crawdad Falls) It’s March 3, 2026. We started at Pioneer Village in Caesar Creek State Park and walked north along the perimeter trail to crawdad falls. This was my first time at a waterfall and finding a fossil! Yay!
What I learned today is how many little things can be found if you pay attention each layer of nature. The sky (eagle) the land (waterfall) and the tiny details (fossils). Look for the little things!
This adventure was chock full of treasures not just fossils! The fossil is of a brachiopod, (by the way - Ceaser Creek State Park has an awesome separate area for fossil hunting) I also got to see a blue heron, eagle (maybe a bald eagle?), mussel shells, raccoon prints, lotus grove, bridge, fossils, crawdad falls, tulip starts, pear puffballs (when touched poot out green spore clouds) and lichens on an ash tree!
Have you ever found a fossil? What was it of?
